What is the Social Share Feature?
The Social Share feature allows you to share your EventCreate event website on social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and more. You can also customize the share image that appears when your event link is shared.
To access, go to Share > More > Social:
What is the Social Share / Link Preview Image?
When you share your event website URL via social platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, etc.), the platform usually generates a preview box: image + title + description. The âShare/Featured Imageâ is the image that will appear in that preview.
With this setting you control the visual look of your event when someone shares your event page.
What You Can Use It For
Using this feature, you can:
Upload a custom image about your event so your event looks professional and on-brand when shared.
Ensure the preview is visually compelling (not a random image from your page).
Provide a preview of your event details when attendees or promoters share the event link
How to Update Your Eventâs Social Share Image
To update your eventâs default image for social media and text message previews:
Go to Setup â Event Details â Share / Featured Image:
Or
Go To Share > More > Social > Share / Featured Image:
Upload your desired image file (JPEG, PNG), Max 1 MB, 1200px x 630px
This image will appear whenever your EventCreate URL is shared on social media or sent via text message.
Important: Cached Previews on Social Media
When you share your event link, social platforms often cache (save) the original preview image and text. This means if youâve already shared your event once, the same image and text may continue to appearâeven after updating them.
How to Clear Cached Previews
If your updated image or text isnât showing, you can clear the cache for the specific platform:
Facebook: Facebook Sharing Debugger
LinkedIn: Post Inspector
WhatsApp: Follow these steps to clear WhatsApp cache
Apple (Safari/iPhone): Clear your cache and cookies
Note: Clearing cache is only needed for users who have already viewed the old preview. Anyone opening the link for the first time will see the updated information automatically.
WhatsApp Image Not Updating?
If your new image isnât appearing in WhatsApp, check the following:
1. Image Size and Format
Minimum: 300Ă200 pixels
Recommended: 1200Ă630 pixels
Format: JPG or PNG
2. Caching Delay
WhatsApp aggressively caches previews. Updates can take a few hours (up to 24 hours) to appear.
3. Quick Fix Steps
Ensure your image meets the size and format requirements.
Test the link using the Facebook Sharing Debugger â it shows the image and metadata WhatsApp is likely reading.
Try re-sharing your event link after a few minutes, or use the Debuggerâs âScrape Againâ option to refresh the preview.
Wait a few hours and test again, or check on another device.
Tip: The first time someone receives your event link, theyâll always see the latest image and information â no extra steps needed.
