You can update the social media or SMS share image instead of using the default EventCreate image. This thumbnail will appear when your event is shared on social media (such as Linkedin, Facebook, Whatsapp or Twitter). This is also the featured image when your event is shared via SMS/text message.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
1. On the Event Dashboard, go to Share > More > Social.
2. Click the Edit Share Image tab.
Note: You can also access this page by going to Setup > Event Details > Share/Featured Image.
3. Upload your social share image by clicking Choose File. The recommended image specs for rectangular images are 300x400 pixels and square images are 400 x 400 pixels and 1MB.
4. Then, click Update Share Image
You can preview the share image by entering your EventCreate URL at:
Facebook Preview: developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
LinkedIn Preview: linkedin.com/post-inspector/inspect
If the image hasn't updated on Facebook, Facebook might be caching the image and you will need to scrape the image. You can clear the cache using the Facebook debugger tool available at developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
Please note: Twitter has recently updated image previews; you will need to tweet your URL in order to view the share image
When you send a link of your EventCreate event, the share image and preview text is heavily cached by many apps. What that means is if you share the event once, the app will save the original image and text and continue to show that even if you have made changes.
Facebook and LinkedIn both offer a built in way to clear the cached image and text: developers.facebook.com/tools/debug or linkedin.com/post-inspector
Whatsapp also caches the image and you can clear it out by following these instructions: businessinsider.com/guides/tech/clear-whatsapp-cache
Apple requires that you clear your cache and cookies on all devices that have viewed the preview by following these steps: support.apple.com/guide/iphone/clear-your-cache-and-cookies-iphacc5f0202/ios
Clearing the cache is only needed if the person is seeing the old information. Anyone receiving the link for the first time will see all updated information.
