My YouTube Video or Vimeo Video isn’t showing on my site. What do I do?

Make sure you’re using the long URL from YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?) or Vimeo (?h=slug) when linking it to your EventCreate site.

Adding a video to your EventCreate website is a great way to enhance your event page! If you’re having trouble, follow the steps below.

2. Use the Correct Video URL

If your video isn’t displaying correctly, make sure you’re using the long URL:

  • YouTube: URL must start with https://www.youtube.com/watch?
    ​(Copy this directly from your browser’s address bar for the video.)

  • Vimeo: URL must include ?h=slug at the end, not /subdirectory/slug

VIMEO TROUBLESHOOTING:

For Vimeo videos, please make sure the video is public, so that it is viewable by everyone. About video privacy settings covers how to adjust a video's general viewing privacy to "Public" or "Unlisted," ensuring visitors to your site can actually see the embedded content.

We currently only support urls like https://vimeo.com/182595047.

If your vimeo link is in another format, the best workaround would be to use a custom embed. To get the embed code, see:

https://share.zight.com/xQuk518W

Then you can add this code into your EventCreate website by right clicking on any section and selecting “edit html”. From there, you can copy and paste their embed code from vimeo.

Steps to Get the Embed Code for an Unlisted Vimeo Video:

  1. Go to Vimeo and log into your account.

  2. Find the video you want to embed.

  3. Click on the "Settings" (gear icon) for the video.

  4. Go to the "Privacy" tab.

  5. Make sure the video is set to:"Unlisted" (Only people with the link)"OR "Anyone" (if you want it fully public)

  6. If embedding is restricted, scroll down to "Where can this video be embedded?" and set it to:"Anywhere" (if you want to embed it anywhere)OR "Specific domains" (if embedding is allowed only on certain websites)

  7. Click "Save" if you made any changes.

  8. Click the "Share" button on the video.

  9. Copy the embed code from the "Embed" section.

Troubleshooting:

  • If embedding is disabled, check the privacy settings under "Where can this video be embedded?"

  • If it's set to "Only on Vimeo", you won’t be able to embed it elsewhere.

  • If the video owner has disabled embedding, you won’t be able to override it.

Step 5: Click “Save and Update” at the bottom.

3. Still Not Working?

If you’ve checked the URL and the video still won’t appear:

  1. Send us the link.

  2. Let us know your event link and where you’re trying to add it.
